Shortly before the pandemic outbreak and the agency’s transition to teleheath last March, Kerry Ruehle made a delivery of new stuffed animals to Catholic Charities Sioux City location. The animals were gathered through her family’s 2020 Teddy Bear Drive in memory of husband, Mike. Mike, “Bear”, was known for his big heart, making others feel better even while he had cancer. Catholic Charities is grateful for the Ruehle’s kindness in sharing a portion of the adorable collection so our therapists like Rhonda Brown, LMHC, can offer additional comfort to children clients. “The kids I work with are facing difficult circumstances such as a family member fighting cancer or other life traumas. The animals will bring happiness and smiles.” The animals have been patiently waiting to go to  their new homes during the months our lobbies have been closed. As of July 6, Catholic Charities will reopen for limited, in-person counseling sessions and will continue to offer telehealth.
