**Update** We are thankful to Siouxlanders for the generous gifts toward our project – The Suicide Support Group. We raised just under $3000 in total and wish to especially recognize Board members, Kevin Owens and his wife Laura and John Baker, for offering matching donations to ensure we made our fundraising goal for this important initiative. **

Original Story:

Catholic Charities is one of nearly 100 area non-profits participating in the 2021 Siouxland Big Give, a 24-hour day of giving where Siouxland community members are encouraged to donate to their favorite local charities.

The goal of this community-wide giving event is to match Siouxland area supporters’ passions and generosity with local nonprofit organizations already doing great work. Through the combined participation of all people who love and care about the Siouxland area, we can significantly impact the future of our beloved community.

Catholic Charities 2021 project is the Suicide Support Group. Gifts will help Siouxlanders along their healing journey when they have lost a loved one to suicide.

The Suicide Support Group is offered at no cost to anyone in the area impacted by the suicide of a family member or friend. Specifically, gifts will help cover the costs for the licensed mental health counselors to lead the group and provide care to those involved. The first, 6-week support group session will begin in November and then be repeated for new members several times per year, as often as needed.

Siouxland Big Give will run from midnight to midnight on Tuesday, October 5, 2021. Supporters can select which organizations they would like to donate to from a list on the website or on Catholic Charities direct donation page . Donations can be made through this website, via Venmo (Siouxland Big Give @SiouxlandCommunityFoundation) and at four Hy-Vee store locations (Sergeant Rd., Gordon Dr., Hamilton Blvd., and South Sioux City).

This event is powered by the Siouxland Community Foundation on behalf of the nonprofits who participate.
